Are you ready for a 'raw' post?

I have been working my way through Shannon Popkin's new book "Kinda Judgy" and oh my word is it convicting (and so good! But that's for another post).
The Holy Spirit is slowly peeling back some layers I didn't know were there.
I had my first child when I was basically 28. Truthfully, I felt older than all my friends who were in the same phase of life. I did not realize it at the time, but being older and having amazing parents myself, I kind of assumed that I would just be a great mom. Definitely not perfect, but I was older, more mature, knew the Bible well, and had more life experiences under my belt.
Clearly I was way better prepared than some 21 year old to be a mom!
Fast forward more than a decade, and I am seeing my foolishness. Now, I have been very blessed, and for the most part they are good kids. But, they are still imperfect human beings who are being raised by two imperfect human beings. In other words, the older my kids get, the more my mistakes are beginning to show. And those 21 year olds I was so quick to judge, well, their kids have turned out quite well so far.
The reality is I may have been older, but I still needed Jesus just as much as any other mom. I may have known the Bible better, but I still needed the Holy Spirit to help me apply it as much as anyone. I may have had more life experiences, but I still did not have all the experiences. I was pretty naive and foolish in my own ways.
I never knew how judgy I could/can be.
It's actually quite humbling.
And painful.
I suppose I can be thankful the Holy Spirit is revealing this now.
May I be a bit more humble today than I was yesterday.
