Makes me thankful for eternity where time is non-existent.

Within 10 days my oldest started college, my second got his license, my husband turned 50, and my dad retired after 27 years of Pastoral ministry.
I feel… the passage of time.
I was chatting with my husband about this and he commented how it feels different than the milestones when you are younger. When you graduate from college, get your first 'real job,' get married, or have your first child - those are all milemarkers of things beginning.
But these are milestones where things are ending. My daughter is growing up and her time at home is drawing to an end. My husband is getting closer to retirement, closer to the end of his life than the beginning. My dad is now looking back at a life well-lived and is less concerned with the future.
Time marches on. It stops for no one.
In some ways I am thankful. I can still remember the hard seasons, the painful moments where you just had to make it through because there was no other way. I am so thankful time does not stop there. But I wish time would occasionally slow down in the good moments. The seasons when everyone is healthy and happy, and the heartache is minimal to non-existent.
However, that is not the way God set it up. Maybe the good moments are precious because they go so fast and don't last forever. Maybe I would take them even more for granted if time slowed down.
And I have to say, the older generations were right. It feels like I blinked and here we are. When you look back at it, time goes so fast.
Makes me thankful for eternity where time is non-existent. No endings. No goodbyes. No painful seasons and heartaches. Eternity will be better than I can even fathom.
Come quickly Lord Jesus.
