One way we see that played out in our walk with God

Last week we looked at the idea of how it takes two hands to think Hebraically. Over the next couple weeks, I want to look at one way we see that played out in our walk with God.
On the one hand, 'some beats none.'
In his book "Soundtracks," Jon Acuff talks about the different 'soundtracks' that play in your mind as you live life. The words that are on repeat when you try to make decisions or even just go day to day. One phrase he uses is 'some beats none.'
In other words, doing something, even if it's just a little bit, is better than doing absolutely nothing.
Right now we are in a busy season of life. Kids are working, driving, doing school, hanging out with friends. I have my own friendships I'm trying to maintain, a routine of cleaning and cooking, not to mention the podcast and any teaching opportunity that God allows. There's our homeschool group that meets, a relationship with my husband that needs attention, yardwork, fitness, study time...
Life can feel incredibly full.
There are days when the only time I really spend in the Word of God is the short window I get in the morning before the day begins. It isn't always much. It doesn't always lead to great revelations or amazing understanding. Sometimes it feels a bit 'same ole.' It wouldn't look impressive on instagram or get me a lot of likes on social media. It's just me sitting at my kitchen table with my laptop and a book or two.
But I am doing something. And 'some beats none.'
We are not in competition with one another. We are not competing to see who can go the deepest or spend the longest or be the most pious. If I am in competition with anyone, it's against myself. Can I get up and do something each day? Can I spend even just 5 minutes in the Word of God before the day begins? Can I take a little more time at the feet of Jesus today then I did yesterday?
It's the same for you. Can you do a little something today? A little more than you did yesterday? It's ok if it doesn't look amazing or feel huge in the moment. "Some beats none." Do something. The little things can add up quicker than you think.
